Web3 arena battler Moonray has recently announced its integration with Coinbase’s Base blockchain.
This partnership brings blockchain-powered features to the game, including in-game NFTs, player-owned assets, and token-based wagering.
To celebrate, Moonray is hosting a free minting event starting today, November 19, allowing players to claim exclusive character skins for a limited time.
Moonray is a web3-enabled multiplayer arena battler that combines fast-paced combat with striking post-human aesthetics.
Players engage in melee-centric battles, using a mix of parries, dodges, ranged attacks, and grappling mechanics. The game offers various modes, including 4v4 team matches, deathmatches, and intense 1v1 duels, all designed to test players’ tactical and combat skills.
Initially launched on the Epic Games Store as an alpha earlier this year, Moonray has gained attention for its innovative use of blockchain technology. It plans to expand its reach with a PlayStation 5 release next year, although web3 features will be absent from the console version due to platform restrictions.
Coinbase’s Base blockchain offers scalability, low transaction fees, and secure infrastructure, making it an ideal choice for Moonray’s blockchain ambitions. The integration allows Moonray to offer true asset ownership, empowering players to trade, sell, or use their in-game items as they see fit.
“The Base blockchain allows us to offer true ownership of those digital items, giving players the flexibility they deserve,” said Hans Andersson, Co-founder and Chief Business Officer of Moonray Studios.
Additionally, Moonray plans to introduce $MNRY, an ERC-20 token, in the coming weeks. This token will enable wagering and community-organized tournaments, further enhancing the competitive aspect of the game.
As part of its integration with Base, Moonray is offering players the chance to mint unique, playable character skins for free.
The minting event begins on November 19 and will run for 48 hours, allowing players to mint 1 per wallet. The character skins, which are NFTs, can be used in the game and traded on OpenSea, giving players full ownership of their digital assets.
Moonray has yet to release the specific time or URL for the event, but fans are encouraged to keep an eye on the game’s official social media channels for updates.
